Today I am going to share with you how I stay sane during the LONG cold winter months. We’ve all been there- stressed, tired, overbooked, and anxiously awaiting warmer weather and sunshine! If you’re anything like me, I crave warm weather and outdoor adventures. Unfortunately during the winter months it’s not that easy. Especially if you’re a mom with kiddos who seem to be climbing the walls each and every day! Being a mom is so rewarding and exhausting all at the same time. Between potty training, colds, dirty laundry and constant meltdowns it’s hard to find time for yourself. Trust me, I’ve battled with this for many years (more on that later). The guilt of taking care of myself when I should be taking care of my children but the truth is, if mama ain’t happy, no one is!
My happy place and where I go to escape my crazy beautiful mess has always been the gym. I wouldn’t considered myself a gym rat but someone who needs that physical activity to stay sane. It’s a place where I can go and not think about anything while listening
to the latest jam Cardi B on repeat. I’ve tried all things fitness and love to change it up. Somedays you can find me running on the treadmill and others doing yoga.
My point is, whatever it is that makes you happy, put the mom guilt aside and do it! It’s hard to stay motivated during the winter months, but once I make it out of the house, I’m glad I did. I’m so grateful for my hubby that understands this is a key factor in helping me be the best mommy I can be. It’s hard as a mom to step away and put yourself first sometimes. Trust me, when you do you will become an even better mom to your children and spouse. Don’t get me wrong- I may not always make it to the gym and b-line straight to my local target for a Starbucks and shopping! The hubs and I have this constant joke that Target has a $100 cover charge because you can never walk out of there under that amount!
