When we moved into our home 5 years ago I knew it needed a little TLC. We bought our house in Kirkwood during an Estate Sale so I had to look past all the junk and visualize what it could be. Lucky for us, it was built in 1998 so the structure was there but it just needed a few facelifts.
There are many ways to update your home on a budget. Below you will find our top 5 ways. I’m always so shocked at how different a space can look by just a few of these updates!
Paint Color– We love anything neutral. Keeps your space looking bright and open. See this blog post with our top picks. L did this accent wall in her bedroom at her old house and it turned out so pretty!

Exterior Lights– Last summer I updated all the exterior lights on our back patio and what a huge difference it made!
Interior Lights– From kitchen lighting to bedroom lighting. The options are endless.
Vanity– We’ve updated 2 out of 3 vanities in our home and it was super easy. Well that’s because we called our friends, Hoffmann Brothers.
Faucets– Kitchen and bathroom!
Thinking this all sounds like too much work or you’re not the handy man type? We’ve got you covered because our friends over at Hoffmann Brothers can do it all. Trust us, there have been many times where we called them because it helps keep the fights between our husbands at a minimum… haha. They can help with plumbing and even appliance repairs/installs. At the end of the day, the job gets done correctly and everyone is happy with the end result.
Every winter we also use Hoffmann for their heating system tune up because lets face it, no one likes being cold in the house. Lucky for you all, Hoffmann Brothers is offering 10% off any new HVAC install done the month of January and February. All you have to do is mention this post.
So what’s your next project you have in mind?
