It’s official, summer is here. Bring on the pool parties, endless ice-cream and outdoor dinners on the patio. Although Saint Louis can be blazing hot, we still try to spend as much time outside as possible. We spend a lot of time outside with the kids and we want it to be comfortable. We did a patio refresh last year and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out.
Clean It Up
After the winter months our patio looks pretty run down. We always try to power wash the patio and the fence before summer approaches. It looks so much better when things are clean.
Add A Rug
Nothing defines an outdoor space like a cool rug. I knew when we did our patio refresh I wanted a conversation set with a rug. There are soooo many great rugs and lots of sizes to be found. We linked many of our favorites!
Light It Up
Top on my list this year was replacing some of our outdoor lights on the porch and patio. Our house was built in 1998 and the light were a tad dated. I decided on new lights for the front porch, garage, and backyard. That was a lot of lights to replace so thankfully I was able to get Hoffmann Brothers out to help with this project. Each electrician is licensed, trained, knowledgeable, and ready to handle whatever new project you have in mind. If you have a covered patio and want to add a fan, Hoffmann Brothers can do that too!
I was amazed when they finished replacing the lights how different the space in each area looked. And I can’t wait to host a little get together to show off my new lights!
Add Potted Flowers
Plants bring life and so much beauty to an outdoor living space. I will include some of Lindsay and I’s favorite planters. Once you’ve got the perfect planter its time to plant. Depending on the amount of light your outdoor space gets depends on what flowers to plant. A few of my seasonal favs… lantana, creeping jenny, vinca, begonia, and geranium.
Don’t Forget The Pillows
I’ve always loved bringing indoor elements outside! Pillows are a great way to do that. One thing you want to make sure is that they’re meant to be “outdoor.” There are so many great pillows made for the outdoors that are sun and weather resistant.
What things are you going to do to get your porch/patio ready for this summer?
