Right around my sons 1st birthday is when I found out our family would be growing. I knew I needed to document my little guys first birthday but also wanted to do something special for our 2nd pregnancy announcement! I called my fav photographer and explained what type of family session I wanted with my now one year old and soon to be family of 4! We started with our family session first because I figured the “cake smash” part would be quite the mess.
I always love a outdoor session because I am a huge fan of natural light photography! I usually keep the outfits neutral, but since it was spring and summer was approaching I decided to go with bright colors.

FIRST BIRTHDAY CAKE SMASH
My son’s 1st birthday party was “Prince” themed! I order the invites off Etsy and couldn’t have been more pleased. Click here for direct link.
I had a local bakery make a ombre rosette cake and did a little quick DIY with the glitter candle. Spray adhesive and some gold glitter gave me the exact look I was going for!
I found his personalized onesie and birthday hat all on Etsy! If you have an idea and find something similar- most people on Etsy can work with you until you get exactly what you want! I found the pom pom party poufs here.
TIME TO DIG IN…. My son was a little unsure at first and didn’t really like the mess (just like his mama).
My oldest is now 4 and youngest 2.5 years. I have to admit, I’ve got a little baby fever now after reminiscing back on all these milestones and photos. What theme did you have for your littles 1st birthday?
